Female Symptoms Herpes

Where it comes to herpes, are there any differences between male and female symptoms?  Herpes, for being such a widespread disease, is still little understood by the vast majority of people in the world.  They tend to pay no attention to it, or at least very little, until they start wondering if they have somehow contracted it.  Then it becomes a topic of major interest.  Which is understandable, of course.  There’s a lot of things people should know about the disease, and for women it’s especially important to learn about female symptoms.  Herpes is not something you want to leave untreated.

In women, herpes will cause reddened skin in the private areas, which can also develop blistering.  This often takes place inside the vagina, not just externally.  In some cases, women will mistake the blistering for small boils.  These blisters can also develop on the inside or outer area of the buttocks, in the urethra, the cervix, the vulva, etc.  In addition, women often will start seeing a vaginal discharge.  They may also experience pain while urinating, or have difficulty doing so.

Those are the most common female symptoms.  In a few women, about 1 out of 4, herpes can even cause meningitis.  Herpes is unusual in that the first time a woman experiences an outbreak, she may not even notice it because the symptoms are so mild.  It’s also commonly misdiagnosed by women and the occasional medical practitioner as a yeast infection or other malady.    This is unfortunate, as it can result in the woman passing herpes on to others through sexual activity without knowing it.  So it’s very important to be on the lookout for these female symptoms.  Herpes can be unpleasant, but it’s easily managed once you’re aware that you have it.  So if you think you might have it, it’s important to find out for sure.
